What happened to unity?

London. A place that is full of opportunities and culture. A place where all religions are practiced and a place full of other nationalities. So why does Islam have such a bad name all over the country? Let me clear one thing up about Islam...it does NOT encourage violent behaviour and extremism. FACT. Now I am well aware that I am not the most practicing Muslim but I have morals and know wrong from right. I know what my religion represents and what it teaches and it is not what we have been seeing in the news in the last few years. These people use Islam as an excuse to justify their horrific acts upon the world. People assume that all Muslims support terrorism and extremism because of a handful of low life's who clearly have nothing better to do in life! I've been approached by many men from Eastern Europe and they say all sorts to me because I won't give them the time of day when they ask me for my number and I have felt quite intimidated by them. Now this isn't me comparing my situation to what's happened in Paris for example, it's clearly me saying that someone from another country has made me feel intimidated and violated at times, does this mean I wish death on all Polish and Romanian men? Absolutely not! So why is it that because of a selfish and horrific act carried out by uneducated fools who have chosen the wrong path, all Muslims should be killed and hated? I am a Muslim, I live in London, I do not support extremism or terrorism.

Racism still exists and I've personally experienced it from English people. Does this mean all of a sudden I think all English people are racist? No! My closest friends are black, white chinese and yes some Muslim (shocker!)

Syria is an Islamic country. How many innocent people have been killed there? Do I wish death on white people or Americans? No!

I know many people who have converted to Islam after researching into the religion and what it teaches and to this day they say it is the best decision they have ever made.

I've never really been into politics or anything like that but I really feel now is the time for us all to unite and learn to accept one another for who they are and not base our opinions on what the media portrays or on the basis that a handful of people from a culture/religion has chosen the wrong path.
